THE AUDITS

Verification procedures

The concerned methodologies and the quality management systems of the concerned groups are being assessed and certified as meeting the requirements of CSRR-QS 2.1®. Fully certified data can be consulted in the Transparency Matrix TM 2.1® of each methodology/group.

Following a long period of pre-pilots, pilots and initiation (phase 1) audits, the first in depth phase 2 certification audits have been performed in 2008 and early 2009, resulting in the first certificates, which are valid for three years from 2009 until 2012. These pioneering groups will undergo a re-certification audit this year as the first cycle comes to end by the beginning of next year. The re-certification audits will result in a renewed certificate, valid for a second cycle, from 2012 until 2015.

In each year of the 3-year audit cycle, an audit takes place and at least one of these 3 audits is an on-site audit.

Auditor
The independent auditor executes the audit and verification protocol.
In order to be eligible for accreditation by AI CSRR, an auditor must:
- Have 10 or more years of working experience, at least 5 of which should relate to general or quality management of organisations, auditing of management systems, or financial/internal auditing.
- Be qualified against the ISO 19011-standard
- Have successfully completed an accredited Lead Auditor Course (in one of the fields of ISO 9001, SA 8000 or ISO 14001).
- Have a very good knowledge of QMS in general and the CSRR-QS 2.1 documentation and procedures in particular.

AI CSRR has appointed Geert Anciaux of Procuratis cvba (www.procuratis.com) as (lead) auditor. Anciaux has proved to have the relevant qualifications and experience in the field of auditing against SA 8000, EMAS, ISO 14001, ISO 9001, and several sectoral service certification systems and has performed many compliance audits as well. He has executed various operational and managerial executive functions in companies as SGS, Kiwa and several others.

The Certification Council (CC)
The Certification Council of AI CSRR is an independent body that is responsible for making the formal certification decisions.
Therefore the Certification Council has a very good knowledge of the AI CSRR documentation and procedures, and is experienced in surveying audits in the field of Corporate Sustainability and Responsibility Research.
Furthermore the CC is responsible for the audit review process, and for the accurate reporting of certifications and certification changes. It shall therefore take into consideration the auditors findings and conclusions in reaching its decisions. The CC meets twice a year at the minimum.

Aiko Bode (Global Head of CSR and Sustainability at TÜV Rheinland Group) and Philippe Rabut (Directeur Général Adjoint of AFNOR Certification; Former Managing Board member of Dekra Industrial France) are the first CC members that have formally been nominated. Other nominations will follow in due course.
